Hailing from Neive in Piedmont, Bruno Giacosa is well-known for their impeccable Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The winery's signature red labels have been instantly recognized throughout the world for nearly 50 years. The eponymous founder, Bruno himself, has built on the work of his father and grandfather before him to create a wine-making empire that is renowned for its exacting dedication to quality. Having never studied enology, he learned his craft simply by helping in the family's grape fields, later expanding to several acres near his home village.
Having produced some of the great wines in the history of Barolo, Giacosa's most iconic wine, Collina Rionda, unfortunately was not produced after 1993, but still remains one of the most legendary Barolos ever made, The Rocche del Falletto Riserva Barolo still remains, as does the Asili Riserva Barbaresco, both of which seem to get better every year that they are produced.
Those looking for an unforgettable taste of the vineyards of Piedmont would do well to find a Barolo or Barbaresco from the Riservas of Bruno Giacosa, as the experience of tasting a wine made with such care and history for the culture behind wine-making is very rare indeed.
