Harlan estate is located in the beautiful Napa Valley of California. Bill Harlan started the Harlan estate in 1984. It has 36 acres of vineyards currently, though it started with only 6 acres. The planted grape blends are 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. The grapes are completely de stemmed and after time the wine is placed in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years. The oak eventually fades, as it is absorbed into the wine. The first vintage was released in 1990, the first vintages made by Harlan estates were not commercially released. Harlan estates also produces a second wine called The Maiden, which debuted in 1995.

Harlan estate wine is quite expensive and they only sell their wine directly to customers on their mailing list. The wine is rich and intense with a deep flavoring of ripe fruits and a long beautiful finish. The 1994 Harlan estate is a dense, concentrated wine with the scents of spicy vanilla and black cherries. It is a full bodied wine with ripe, black fruit to tease your taste buds with silky, sweet goodness. The 2001 Harlan estate is a bold, balanced wine, rich with ripe fruits, smoke, licorice, and a velvety finish on your palate. The 2013 Harlan estate is an inky color. The wine is deep with hints of vanilla, smoke, and packed with dark, ripe, fruits.

The 2012 Maiden is deep in color with smoky scents. It is a medium bodied wine with ripe, dark fruits, an earthiness and licorice for your tasting pleasure. The Maiden 2002 sweet with dark currant fruit, licorice, and an earthiness that finishes big and sweetly lingers on your tongue. The 1997 Maiden was one of the first produced and is a full bodied, jammy wine, with smoke and espresso paired with black raspberry to leave an amazing sweetness in the mouth.

Harlan estate is a “Wine Club” that any collector or connoisseur would be proud to be a member of. There wines are rich and luxurious in order to please any customer. They would be beautiful additions to a collection or a superb treat for tasting.
