Chateau Lynch-Bages is a winery located in the Bordeaux region of beautiful France. It was started when Thomas Lynch and his father, John, immigrated to France from Ireland and inherited the estate. In 1749, Thomas passed the estate to his son, Jean-Baptiste, who soon handed the estate to his brother Michel. Michel maintained the estate until 1824, when he sold it to Sebastien Jurine, a French wine merchant. For over a hundred years, Chateau Lynch-Bages stayed in the Jurine family, then the Cayrou family. In 1934 Jean-Charles Cazes rented the property for a few years, before purchasing it in 1938. After his death, his grandson Jean-Michel Cazes managed the estate. Chateau Lynch-Bages ownership still remain with the Cazes family.
Chateau Lynch-Bages is primarily known for its red wine, around 25,000 cases are produced in a year, however, in recent years they have been working hard on their white wine, Blanc de Lynch Bages. For drinking now, it is said that the 1982, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1996 vintages have hit their peak and are ready for your tasting pleasure. The more competitive vintages have been the 2009 and 2010. Lynch-Bages is considered to be soft when young, however when fully mature it develops an irresistible smell or blackcurrants and a succulent richness.
Echo de Lynch Bages is the second wine of Chateau Lynch-Bages, previously known as Chateau Haut-Bages Averous. It is classified as a medium bodied, dry wine. This wine has a sweet cassis fruit that cloaks the ripe tannins. This is a delicious, powerful wine. The 2010 Chateau Lynch- Bages is one of their most selling wines and more expensive. It is a masculine, powerful wine full of sweet, ripe Cabernet fruit, with a long, beautiful finish. The 2010 is a dark, dense wine loaded with fig, plum and blackberry. It is considered a medium-full bodied, dry wine. Blanc de Lynch-Bages was born in 1990 and is Chateau Lynch- Bages white wine. This wine is crisp, fresh, bright and lively. The more popular is the 2011 Blanc de Lynch-Bages, it is considered to be a casual sipping wine balanced by fresh acidity.
Trying the many wines offered by Chateau Lynch-Bages is an opportunity connoisseurs shouldn't let pass them by.
