Chateau Haut Brion was bought by Clarence Dillon in 1935 after many unsuccessful owners. He named his nephew president. In 1975 Seymour Weller retired as president. Jean Philippe Delmas, Manager Jean Delmas' son, took over the job in 2003 when his father retired.
The winery has over 119 acres devoted to red grapes, with a blend of 37% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 18% Cabernet France. It also devotes 7.1 acres to white grapes, with a blend of 63% Semillon and 37% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation of the red vine occurs in steel vats, afterwards it is moved to oak barrels for 22 months or more for maturity. The white wine is also fermented in the steel vats, then moved to oak barrels for up to 15 months to mature.
