"Cool and somewhat reserved spicy black fruit aromas laced with obvious minerality merge into deep, velvety and brooding flavors and an understated but long and penetrating finish. This is a really lovely effort with style and grace that is distinctly different than the other wines in the range as there is a coolness here similar to fine examples of Clos des Ducs or Reignots' immediate neighbor La Romanée. I find this to be really quite attractive and all the more so when you consider just how young the vines are." (89-92 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan. 2006)
