"As one would expect given the super-hot vintage conditions this is extremely ripe though it stops short of displaying roasted fruit on the markedly spicy, plum and violet-inflected nose that presently exhibits virtually no secondary nuances. The dense, powerful and robust flavors possess huge size and weight before terminating in a palate coating finish that delivers impressive length. While this is a first-rate 2003, I can't say that it appeals to me. That said, quality is quality and style is style and this is undeniably a wine of quality whether it appeals to me or not."
