Description

Richebourg 1991
Leroy
lbsl, lscl, crc, exposed cork, #00528
Bottle (1)

The Perfect Arc Cellar. This is one of those rare collections that touches upon all the most beautiful parts of the wine growing world, both deep and broad in its scope. Most every wine was purchased on release and stored in an impeccable temperature and humidity-controlled facility.

"Madame Bize made superb '91s virtually across her entire range and this wine is no exception with its deep, rich, complex nose and flavors that display remarkable depth, including earth and tobacco notes. The finish is subtly complex and still quite structured but the tannins are ripe and buffered by plenty of extract. In sum, this is dense and intense and should continue to improve for years to come. Consistent notes." (93 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Apr. 2007)

“This remains quite seductive, with extract of pinot and spice aromas that merge seamlessly into sappy, mouth-coating, big, robust and very powerful flavors, with nary a trace of the rusticity and rough tannins that young Richebourg often displays. This seems to ooze cassis from start to finish and the persistence has to be experienced to be believed, though the wine remains backward if not severe or astringent. In terms of its evolution, even at nine years of age this remains quite youthful though not forbidding, and personally, I would continue to cellar the ’01 Riche for at least another 6 to 10 years, as it has not yet reached its full, and considerable, potential.” (95 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, March 2010)
