“Initially, this opens with enough reduction to push the fruit to the background but with aggressive aeration, notes of spice and floral elements eventually appear. The powerful, muscular and almost painfully intense yet super-sleek broad-shouldered flavors possess copious amounts of dry extract that coats the palate while partially buffering the markedly firm tannins on the saline and mineral-driven, hugely long and still youthfully austere. This beauty of a Chambertin is almost old school in style and a wine that is not even remotely close to its apogee.
