"Perfumed and now fully mature aromas offering a stunningly complex mélange of spice, leather, earth and dark fruits introduce very rich and forward medium weight flavors of exceptional length. While there is still some tannic structure in evidence but the fruit provides more than adequate balance and there is better than average acidity in the context of the vintage as well though just a hint of it now sticks out on the finish. A lovely wine in its own right that is now drinking well though it can certainly be held with confidence. Multiple, and consistent, notes." (93pts Allen Meadows, Burghound, Nov 2011)

"There is now some bricking evident on the rim. The elegantly perfumed and fully mature aromas offer a stunningly complex mélange of spice, leather, earth and ripe secondary fruit scents. There is fine richness to the relatively forward medium weight flavors that are not particularly dense though they do deliver exceptionally good length on the gorgeously textured and well-balanced finale where the only reproach worthy of note is a hint of warmth. This has now reached its apogee and while there is no risk of a decline anytime soon, indeed it can be held with confidence, neither is there anything further to be gained from holding this beauty longer. Multiple, and mostly consistent, notes as my scores have ranged from 93 to 95" (95 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Nov. 2021)

"It is difficult to imagine a wine more gorgeous than the 1990 Chambertin Grand Cru from Armand Rousseau. It's in a beautiful place after 32 years. It is a sibling of the 1985 on the nose with beguiling pure red cherries, crushed stone, fern and with aeration, freshly sliced strawberry. There is a warmth here, yet it never impedes the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied, a millefeuille of red fruit lace with Chinese 5-spice and clove, decadent and confident but without hubris and with a surfeit of finesse. There is a wonderful crescendo on the finish with a sustained candied finish. Wonderful." (97 pts. Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2022)
