    Description

    Bonnes Mares 1998
    Comte de Vogue
    Bottle (3)

Just a tiny first effort from the much, much bigger temperature and humidity controlled cellar of a midwestern gentleman. All wines bought on release from reputable retailers.

"This may be one of the finest Bonnes-Mares I have ever tasted from de Vogüé and it's as dense as the 1991. Packed with kirsch-laced fruit and possessing an intense sappiness with an almost painfully intense flavor precision and a forceful, not to be denied, persistence on the finish. I literally asked to pause a few minutes before proceeding to the Musigny, as the finish would not stop. Positively serene in its power and quiet understatement. In short, for all its greatness, it doesn't shout at you, it just quietly and confidently delivers a remarkable performance." (93 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jul. 2007)

"Full deep red. Very precise aromas of black plum, blueberry, licorice and herbs. Quite powerful on the attack, with penetrating but cool black fruit flavors, then unforthcoming in the middle. The spicy, dark berry flavors return with a vengeance on the finish." (92+ pts. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar. 2001)
