Bonnes Mares 1995
G. Roumier

Bottle (12)
"This wine has finally arrived at a point where it's no longer infanticide as the ripe and very densely fruited dark berry fruit nose and robust, powerful, muscled and concentrated flavors are beginning to open and the signs of what is to come are now in evidence. There is massive density and incredible sap and while there are prominent tannins, they are ripe and perfectly integrated for what is still a moderately young Bonnes Mares. The fabulous potential this displayed from cask is now almost realized and while it will need another five years to really be at its best, it should last for two to three decades after that. In short, this is a truly great Bonnes Mares." (97pts Allen Meadows, Burghound, Aug 2010)

"The Roumier '95s are among the very best wines of the vintage and the '95 BM is proof positive. There is only a trace of bricking and the ripe and expressive nose also displays only a hint of sous-bois on the spice and earth-infused nose where hints of old leather and dried flowers appears. The robust, powerful, muscled and concentrated flavors coat the palate with sap that also buffers what are still firm but not hard supporting tannins shaping the hugely long, complex and balanced finale. In sum, this is a truly great Bonnes Mares that I have been fortunate to marvel over many times with mostly consistent notes save for one bottle tasted in 2016 that displayed quite a bit of volatile acidity - why I cannot say. No matter, this is a brilliant BM that will live for decades to come." (97 pts. Allen Meadows, Burghound, April 2024)
