    Chateau Latour 1928
ms, bsl, tl, cc, excellent color
    Bottle (1)

"The 1928 Latour has been a 20th century icon that has been top of my 'wish' list for some time. Lo and behold when it finally appeared it came in magnum format. It is deep mahogany in colour, quite deep for a wine from this decade. It has a beguiling bouquet of cedar, tobacco, crushed rose petals and a hint of mint and then after 90 minutes it develops a noticeable, quite pungent estuarine scents - mudflats, salt marshes in a cold winter's day. The palate is very refined, perfectly balanced with quite rigid tannins that frame the dark berry fruit, cedar and graphite notes. In tandem with the nose, the marine element becomes more tangible with aeration, hints of Japanese nori and more graphite." (98 pts. Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2018)

    Estimate: $2,400 - $3,250.
