Chateau Gruaud Larose 1983
St. Julien
1bn, 1ts, 6vhs, 2hs, 2htms, 2nl, 3lscl, 3lcc, 4ssos, ocb
Bottle (12)

Wines from the cellar of a Los Angeles area lady. All wines stored in a temperature and humidity controlled cellar.

"The 1983 Gruaud Larose is a vintage I have enjoyed several times. It has a delectable bouquet of dark red berry fruit, redcurrant and a touch of pomegranate, with subtle notes of cedar, tobacco and a touch of black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that lend it a very good structure. There is plenty of red fruit to enjoy, plus crisp acidity and great tension on the finish that admittedly does not possess the extravagance of the 1982. Yes, it remains a thoroughly enjoyable Gruaud Larose that will give pleasure for another couple of years." (92 pts. Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2013)

"Bright medium red with an amber edge. Archetypal mature Gruaud-Larose aromas of truffle, smoked beef, earth, cedar, and tobacco complicate red cherry on the expressive. Fresh and juicy in the mouth, with a graceful quality to the red cherry, spicecake, orange rind and aromatic herb flavors. The finish is bright, long and clean, showing subtle underbrush notes at the back." (93 pts. Ian D'Agata, Vinous, April 2013)
