Description
Chateau Beychevelle 2000St. Julien
1scl
Bottle (2)
"Deep ruby/purple in color, with a sweet nose of black currants, earth, licorice, and mineral, the 2000 is relatively powerful and dense for the normally restrained and elegant Beychevelle. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and chewy, it is showing even better out of bottle than it was from cask. While it appears to be the finest example made at Beychevelle since the 1989 and 1982, patience will be required." (91 pts. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, April 2003)
"The 2000 Beychevelle is slightly different from the other ex-chateau bottle tasted last year. This has a little more presence on the nose with peppermint-tinged red fruit, leather and camphor. Attractive, even if it is missing the typicite of the 2001. The palate is medium-bodied, and here I feel a bit of brett denudes the 2000 delineation and the freshness it might otherwise have had. Well-knit, yet a little feral on the finish." (90 pts. Neal Martin, Vinous, April 2022)
