"One of the finest Warres I have ever tasted, this opaque purple-colored wine is made in a drier style (a la Dow), yet it is expressive, extremely full-bodied, with superb richness, purity, and well-integrated alcohol and tannin. It possesses a great mid-palate as well as impressive length. Tasters should take note of the wealth of peppery, licorice-scented and flavored raspberry and blackcurrant fruit. Look for it to be ready to drink in 10-12 years, and keep for 30+. This is a profound example of Warre vintage port." (94 pts. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Oct. 1996)
“The darkest most extracted VP of all to this point in the tasting. Inky black from core to rim. A stunningly complex nose of purity of grape, spice blend, aniseed, tar and esteva. Love this and if I don't own it, I will buy some for sure. The palate rivals the aromatics, which is saying a lot. Medium-full body, concentrated and intense, rich and densely stuffed with purple fruits, acid in spades and tannins that are fairly aggressive. I am a sucker for a well-balanced and powerful youngster like this. Reminds me of the 2007 Noval upon first blush. Delicious and crazy long aftertaste.
