Description

Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 1963
5bn, 1ts, 4lscl, 4ssos
Bottle (8)

“Produced on the 150th anniversary of the Port shipper, Antonio, Jose da Silva, and bottled in 1965, 250 years after the first known records of the Quinta do Noval – 1715. Much darker than either of the previous '63s, great clarity and medium garnet appearance with an edge that morphed from pink to orange to tawny as it approached the rim. A fragrant mélange of cherry, raisin, marzipan and crème brûlée that was not only powerful but complex. This Noval exhibits medium weight with snappy acidity and fully resolved tannins providing symmetry throughout; bolstered by gentle waves of strawberry, mocha, char and overtones of black licorice. It has a silky soft and delicate mouthfeel, with generously layered mid-palate and a rich, lingering and warm aftertaste." (91 pts. Roy Hersh, For the Love of Port, Feb. 2015)
