Description

White Muscat 1947
Livadia, Massandra
Bottle (6)
This wine walks the perfect line between the other-worldly 1954 and the merely excellent 1950. Moderately expressive nose of marzipan, caramel and tea followed by a palate that begins with fat marzipan flavors. This wine, strangely, does have a bit of natural acidity holding it in focus while the spirit is virtually invisible. The body on this wine is a bit lighter, but not light. It is not as complex as the 1954 nor as fat as the 1950 but it is quite refined, if a little more simplistic. Neither beast nor beauty, this is an incredible wine (in that middle-of-the road way) that is made great by the fact that no part of it is stands out as unbecoming. (96pt FCM)
