DescriptionRed Port 1991
Deep ruby color. Smoky raspberry and jam fruit nose with a synthetic overtone. Today's sample is more shy than it was 5 years ago, but still quite alluring with that candy cherry core that screams Jolly Rancher. Palate opens with the pure fruit and complexity builds in the mouth. This is very fun drinking, particularly in the mildly sweet and lightly spirited finish of ripe strawberry and red raspberry. If the synthetic overtones delineate into the menthol and crushed stone which I expect to see in the future of this wine, this is going to be stellar. If not, it will remain merely delicious.
