Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Hillside Select
owc
Bottle (6)

The Kallisti Collection, Part II, A Return to One of Our Most Iconic Modern Cellars: Every bottle in this offering has been professionally stored in a state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled Tribeca cellar.

"The 2009 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is a more ordinarily constructed, compact effort from Shafer, but very powerful, with blackcurrants, cedar wood, vanillin and spice box. The wine is full-bodied, showing outstanding purity, a slightly more narrow framework and a linear personality. Nevertheless, it’s top-notch and a brilliant wine on its own." (94 pts. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Dec. 2014)

“Made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Hillside Select has a deep garnet color. Wow—it explodes from the glass with this atomic nose of crème de cassis, Black Forest cake, baked plums and boysenberries plus hints of licorice, mocha, cedar chest and pencil lead with a waft of garrigue. Full-bodied, the palate is a concentrated, full-on behemoth, possessing fantastic balance and expressiveness, finishing with epic length and a fantastically velvety texture.” (98+ pts. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, Jan. 2020)
