    Philippe Melka Red 2010
    Metisse, Jumping Goat Vineyard
    Bottle (11)

"Bright dark ruby! Blueberry, blackberry, spices and licorice on the nose, accented by a floral topnote. Suave, pure and sweet on entry, with lush but clearly delineated black raspberry, dark chocolate and floral flavors enlivened and framed by harmonious acidity. Impeccably balanced, intense and penetrating wine with sexy sweetness and a lot of personality. A touch of salinity adds another dimension. Finishes with substantial but utterly harmonious tannins and slowly rising length. Not at all a late-picked style of 2010, this is just approaching its peak and should last very well." (93 pts. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2020)

"From the warmer appellation of St. Helena, the 2010 Metisse Jumping Goat Vineyard is a 450-case blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and nearly equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot that was aged 26 months in 86% new French oak. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by copious aromas of crushed rocks, toasty oak, blackberries, cassis, spring flowers, licorice and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, opulent and rich with admirable structure and focus..." (94 pts. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Oct. 2013)
