    Tokay 1947
    South Coast, Massandra
    Bottle (6)
Amber color. Medicine, tobacco leaf and barnyard dominate the nose and only with a ton of aeration does the peach characteristic of this wine begin to emerge. One of these kids is doing his own thing... but it's a nice change of speed. The nose is extremely interesting and complex, inviting the taster to spend a lot of time thinking about it. The palate opens with band-aids and gravel which eventually gives way for the sweet peach nectar character to emerge -but they are competing, rather than existing in harmony, and the fruit flavors are losing that battle. The finish is consistent with the nose and palate. This is an intriguing wine and not at all unpleasant, but if it was a bit younger you'd think it to be in the middle of an awkward phase. (88-91pts FCM)
