California Treasures Abound in Heritage’s Fine & Rare Wine Auction, Bookending Napa’s Tradition of Excellence
| Sought-after vintages in the March 22 event include a 1969 Chappellet, 145 bottles of Screaming Eagle and more than 300 bottles of Sine Qua Non DOWNLOAD DIGITAL PRESS KIT In Heritage’s March 22 Fine & Rare Wine Signature® Auction, California’s venerable old labels and avant-garde modern cult winemakers come together in one remarkable event, seamlessly connecting the dots between the greatest wines the region has ever produced. “This auction is a celebration of excellence and innovation, marking a significant chapter in the history of California’s viticulture,” says Frank Martell, Heritage’s Senior Director of Fine & Rare Wine, “and the list of treasured lots on offer couldn’t be more extravagant.” In addition, the Grateful Cellar of Dan Philips, the Nevada Collection, the Guilford Cellar, the Tucker Collection and the Driftwood Cellar combine to offer 145 bottles and five magnums of Screaming Eagle. The auction also features an incredible 317 bottles of Sine Qua Non. “Each collection showcases rare and sought-after vintages that embody the spirit and passion of their collectors, but the depth and breadth of California’s winemaking history is unparalleled,” Martell says. Not all of the auction’s highlights hail from California, however. Francophiles will be delighted to discover standouts such as two bottles of 1991 Leroy Musigny, a 1999 Bouchard La Romanee in Jeroboam, two bottles of 1996 D’Auvenay Mazis Chambertin, a 1980 Jayer Echezeaux, two bottles of 1980 Cros Parantoux, an 1899 Chateau Latour and four bottles of 1989 Chateau Haut Brion.
