| December 10 auction also features often-copied Henri Jayer rarity DOWNLOAD DIGITAL PRESS KIT
Kicking off with a Platinum session of 160 lots valued at more than $850,000, this December auction features more than 100 bottles of Screaming Eagle, the most Heritage has ever included in a single auction, including all but one vintage from 1998 through 2018. "We began the Covid era in 2020 with the Lakada Cellar, an important and well-known collection among wine collectors everywhere, and the results from that sale loudly declared the strength of the wine market, and Heritage's place in it for the most serious collectors," said Frank Martell, Senior Director of Fine & Rare Wine for Heritage Auctions. "Fast-forward to the present day and it seems world records are falling with every auction. This volume of Screaming Eagle alone will make this an exceptionally significant event." https://wine.ha.com/c/search.zx?saleNo=5525&txtSearch=harlanThere are also 43 lots of Harlan, also offered are 43 lots of Colgin, and 27 lots of Mouton, including a bottle of the legendary Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1945 Pauillac(estimate: $9,000-12,000), and so many more. Headlining the sale is the rarest of the rare — a bottle of 1988 Jayer Cros Parantoux Cros Parantoux, H. Jayer, signed by Henri Jayer himself. This bottle carries a pre-auction estimate of $8,500-12,000. Jayer, who died in 2006, was a heralded French vintner who began producing wines in the 1950s. His wines quickly earned a strong reputation and remain among the most coveted at auction, usually bring four-figure and sometimes five-figure prices for single bottles. So high is the demand for Jayer wines that many attempts have been made to replicate them. "Henri Jayer makes some of the most coveted wines in the world, and his wines are singularly the most counterfeited because they are so rare and so expensive," Martell said. "We have a bottle of his wine that he himself signed, and we have a picture of him signing the bottle." Other top highlights include, but are not limited to: A magnum of 2009 Rouseau Chambertin (estimate: $8,500-12,000) A 1988 Roumier Bonnes Mares Vieilles Vignes (estimate: $7,500-9,500) "The wine market has been on a surreal tear over the past two years, unrivaled by any other period in my 25-year career. While Covid presented uncommon challenges, it was incredible to see the wine community remain closely connected through Zoom tastings and online forums, but it also served as a reminder that the life of a wine enthusiast is centered around special occasions," Martell said. "We may not know how long this market is going remain so unbelievably strong, but it is clear that the world of wine will continue to thrive."
