Chateau Lafleur 1994Pomerol

Bottle (12)
- The James Cellar- A pristine cellar of First Growth Bordeaux from the 80’s and 90’s. The Provenance here is second to none. Bid with supreme confidence.
"For readers with 10-15 years of patience, this exceptionally concentrated, massive, tannic, backward, opaque purple-colored Lafleur offers considerable promise. The provocative nose of licorice, violets, black-raspberry, and truffle-like fruit is followed by a huge, tannic, forbiddingly backward, super-concentrated wine that should be purchased only by those willing to wait until the end of the first decade of the next century. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2030." (93 pts. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Feb. 1997)
"Very good deep red-ruby color. Initially mute nose opens to reveal a sappy black cherry and licorice aroma, but no sign of the superripe quality found in the best Lafleurs from decades past. Dense and extremely backward in the mouth; displays a very primary iodiney/fruit pit quality and excellent sweetness. Powerfully structured and quite tannic; this will require at least a decade of bottle aging. An impressive wine, but today's Lafleur lack the sauvage splendor of vintages like '75, '79, '83 and '86." (91+ pts. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 1996)
