"93% Syrah, 7% Viognier. Aged 38 months in new oak. Cask sample. Deep purple-black hue. Greater density than the Brune et Blonde. Handles the new oak well. Ripe fruit with a camphor note. Palate full and gourmand, the tannins finely honed." (17+ pts. James Lawther, Jancis Robinson, Dec. 2021)

"The 2020 Côte-Rôtie Château d'Ampuis wafts from the glass with loads of graphite, violet, cured meat, wood smoke, menthol and predominantly black fruits. The massive tannic structure indicates that the 2020 will be a long-distance runner and shouldn’t be touched until 2030. It closes with excellent grip on the complex finish. Still, I have a slight preference for the bolder 2019 rendition." (94 pts. Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, Oct. 2023)

"A beautifully crafted Cote-Rotie for this ripe vintage that is already a delight to drink. Excellent balance of smokiness, meaty character and fine tannins, the generous oak already very well integrated. Very long finish with plenty of drive and smoky character. Drink or hold." (95 pts. Stuart Pigott, James Suckling, April 2024)

"Showing a bit of cedar and vanilla at this stage, Guigal's 2020 Côte Rôtie Château d'Ampuis is a bit less impressive than other recent vintages. It still has plenty of cherry fruit, but this medium- to full-bodied effort comes across as slightly simple and chunky. I expect it will smooth out and add layers during its élevage." (92–94 pts. Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2022)
