"Bright, healthy dark red. Burnished woodsmoke, plum and cedar on the mellow, inviting nose, plus a hint of darker berries. Wonderfully fine-grained, concentrated and suave, showing flavors similar to the aromas, along with strong soil tones and an element of tobacco leaf. Boasts excellent inner-mouth lift and a long, smoothly tannic finish. A lovely showing and perfect right now--not to mention a superb example of its appellation. Incidentally, this was the first year in which Michael Silacci (in charge of winemaking at Opus One since 2004) was involved at Stag's Leap." (93 pts. Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jun. 2016)
