The Northern Collection. Assembled by a wine industry veteran, principally from two outstanding sources in the north of England. All wines stored in professional temperature and humidity-control.
"Tasted at the château, the 1949 Montrose has a bewitching bouquet that roots your feet to the floor, seems to momentarily stop the passing of time. Heavenly scents of red plum, honey, dried rose petals, fig and damson, all brilliantly defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied, very refined and classic in style, not as fruit-driven as the 1947 Montrose, but everything beautifully proportioned. Cedar, leather and pencil lead infuse the vestiges of black fruit, perhaps now showing a little dryness towards the finish, but the elegance and refinement here is second to none." (94 pts.
