Description

Clos de la Roche 2005
J. Truchot
ll, nl
Bottle (1)

The Northern Collection. Assembled by a wine industry veteran, principally from two outstanding sources in the north of England. All wines stored in professional temperature and humidity-control.

"Truchot’s 2005 Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes (his main parcel of 70-year-old vines being in the “true”original vineyard of this name) smells of lightly-cooked cherry compote, brown spices and resin. Clear, pure cherry fruit on the palate is underlain by diverse stony, dusty mineral nuances. This is smoother, creamier, more polished but less gripping than the Charmes, with suggestions of mocha and cocoa powder emerging amid the rich fruit, meat stock and stone soup in the long, soothing finish. It will drink beautifully sooner than the Charmes but as evidenced by its many illustrious predecessors will be no less long-lived." (94 pts. David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, April 2007)
