"A very impressive showing with spice, ripe earth, a touch of underbrush and mushroom aromas followed by wonderfully complex, rich and still nicely intense flavors of excellent length and real velvet on the finish. While there is certainly no rush, I would begin to look for opportunities to drink this as it risks thinning out over time. “The Grand Ech has always been the unsung hero among the Domaine's '85s with its strikingly spicy and beautifully layered nose of rose petal, sandalwood, underbrush and sous-bois scents. There is equally good complexity to the beautifully rich and still nicely intense larger-bodied flavors that display excellent power and length on the velvety finish where a touch of tannin makes itself known.
