1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Case Expected To Bring $37,500+ In Heritage Auctions Dec. 1-2 Wine Event
Simulcast to Hong Kong; auction features “comprehensive offering of the greatest houses in Bordeaux,” California “cult classics” and more
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Twelve bottles of 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, an extraordinary vintage of this beloved wine, is expected to bring $37,500+ as the top draw for collectors in Heritage Auctions’ Dec. 1-2 Wine Signature® Auction. The auction, with a total of 1,075 lots estimated at $1.9M, is being held live in Heritage’s Beverly Hills, CA showroom, 9478 West Olympic Boulevard and will be simulcast live to Shore Restaurant in Hong Kong, 3rd Floor, The L Place, 139 Queen Road.
“This auction features a stunning consignment that is, in and of itself, a comprehensive offering of the greatest houses in Bordeaux,” said Frank Martell, Director of Wines at Heritage. “This collection was purchased en primeur and has been stored in its original wooden cases since release, in an extremely cold and unwavering private subterranean wine cellar. This is simply the greatest provenance available for wines of the modern era.”
The same collection also features cult classics from California including broad offerings of Sine Qua Non and West Coast cult-cabernet producers.
12 bottles 1990 La Tache Domaine de la Romanee Conti are expected to draw significant interest when it comes across the block with an estimate of $35,000+, 12 bottles 1989 Chateau Petrus, another legend candidate, is expected to bring $30,000+. Further Romanee Conti highlights continue with two cases of 12 bottles from 1985 of La Tache Domaine de la Romanee Conti, each estimated at $26,000+.
Eight bottles of 1990 Chateau Petrus, a wine widely considered to be the wine of the vintage, and hence a superb investment capable of lasting another 40 years, are expected to bring $20,000+, while 12 bottles of 1996 DRC Assortment are estimated at $18,000+. Three Magnums of 2000 Chateau Le Pin come into the auction with a $17,000+ estimate, an expected price realized almost matched by 12 bottles of 1982 Chateau Latour, which are expected to bring $16,000+. Twelve bottles of 2000 Chateau Ausone, a breakthrough effort from one of Bordeaux’s most renowned vineyards, round out the top offerings of the auction with an estimate of $15,000+.
